166Βασιλεὺς Πτολεμαῖος Ἀντιόχωι χαίρειν. περὶ τῆς 167σταθμοδοσίας τῶν στρατιωτῶν ἀκούομεν πλείω τινὰ 168βίαν γίνεσθαι τὰς καταλύσεις παρὰ τῶν οἰκονόμων 169οὐ λαμβανόντων, ἀλλ᾿ αὐτῶν εἰς τὰς οἰκίας εἰσπηδώντων 170τοὺς ἀνθρώπους ἐγβάλλοντας βίαι ἐνοικῖν. σύνταξον οὖν 171ὅπω[ς] τοῦ [λ]οιποῦ μὴ γίνηται τοῦτο· ἀλλὰ μάλιστα μὲν αὐτοὶ 172στε[γ]ανομείσθωσαν, εἰ δὲ ἄρα δεῖ αὐτοῖς σταθμοὺς 173δίδο[σθα]ι π[α]ρὰ τῶν οἰκονόμων, διδότωσαν α[ὐ]τοῖς 174τοὺς ἀναγκαίους. καὶ ὅταν ἀπολύωνται ἐκ τῶν [στ]σθμῶν, 175ἀναποιή[σ]αντες ἀφιέτωσα[ν] τοὺς σταθμοὺς καὶ μὴ 176καταλ[ι]πέτωσαν ἕως ἂν πά[λ]ιν παραγένωνται, καθάπερ 177νῦν ἀ[κο]ύο[με]ν γίνεσθαι, ὅτ[αν] ἀποπορεύωνται, ἀπ[ο-]178μισθοῦν αὐτοὺς καὶ ἀποσφρα[γισα]μένους τὰ οἰκήματα 179ἀποτρ[έ]χειν. μάλιστα δὲ π[ρονό]ησον Ἀρσινόης τῆς 180κατὰ Ἀ[π]όλλωνος πόλιν ὅπω[ς, ἐὰ]ν παραγένωνται 181στρατ[ιῶ]ται, μηθεὶς ἐπιστα[θ]μεύσηι, ἀλλὰ καὶ ἐν Ἀπόλλ-182ωνος π[ό]λει διατρίβωσιν. King Ptolemy to Antiochusa greeting. About the billeting of the soldiers, we hear that some undue violence is used, as they do not receive lodgings from the oeconomi, but themselves break into the houses and ejecting the inhabitants occupy them by force. Give orders therefore that in future this is not to be done; if possible, let them provide accommodation for themselves, but if indeed it is necessary that quarters should be given to them by the oeconomi, let these give them what they strictly require. And when they depart from their quarters, let them give them up after putting them in order and not leave them as theirs until they return, as we hear that they now do; for it seems that when they go away they let them to others or seal up the rooms before leaving. Be particularly careful about Arsinoe near Apollonopolis,b to see that, if soldiers come, none of them shall be billeted there, but that they shall reside in Apollonopolis. But if they have
