Use of the digital edition of the Loeb Classical Library (DLCL) from Harvard University Press (HUP) is subject to the following Terms.

By accessing DLCL, you agree to comply with these Terms in addition to all other applicable laws and regulations. If you do not agree, you may not use DLCL. Your access to DLCL may be terminated at any time without liability if we determine in good faith that you have violated any of these Terms.

These Terms may be modified at any time without notice.

1. Permitted Use

If you are an individual subscriber to DLCL or an Authorized User of a subscribing institution, you may access, search, view and use DLCL content as provided in the applicable subscriber agreement or order form. If you are an individual subscriber or an Authorized User you may also create your own unique profile to utilize the customization features of DLCL enabling you to save and annotate DLCL content.

If you are a casual user, you will have limited access to DLCL.

The contents of DLCL are protected by copyright. You may save and print individual sections of DLCL for your personal use and to share with your colleagues for non-commercial scholarly purposes only. You may not use any means to download, save, print, display, distribute, modify, prepare derivative works, re-publish, index or otherwise reproduce any content beyond what is permitted under the provisions of copyright fair use without our specific written permission. You may not remove copyright notices or text acknowledgements and attributions.

Please contact the HUP Permissions Department if you wish to request permission to re-use DLCL content for a specific purpose.

2. User Responsibilities

You are responsible for safeguarding the username and password assigned to your account, and you are responsible for any violation of these Terms by anyone who accesses DLCL through you or using your username and password.

3. Disclaimers

DLCL is provided “as is.” HUP and its affiliates will have no liability for any loss or damage arising out of your use of or inability to use any DLCL content. We do not warrant the accuracy or completeness of information contained in DLCL, or its merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose. The content of DLCL may change at any time without notice. We do not warrant that DLCL will be accessible at any time or in any particular hardware or software environment.

4. Governing Law

This Agreement will not be governed by the United Nations Convention of Contracts for the International Sale of Goods, the application of which is expressly excluded.

If you are located in North America, Asia (other than the Middle East), Australia or New Zealand, these terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, USA, without regard to conflicts of laws rules, and you must bring any claims concerning your use of or access to DLCL in the state and federal courts of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

If you are located in Europe (including Russia), Africa or the Middle East, these terms are governed by the laws of England, without regard to conflicts of laws rules, and you must bring any claims concerning your use of or access to DLCL in the courts of London, England.
